Students sparked a well-circulated rumor that Tom Brady could be leaving New England for Tennessee after they mistook a football Hall of Famer’s wife for Gisele Bundchen.
It was speculated Brady could sign with the Titans after Bundchen, the wife of Brady and Brazilian model, was said to be touring Montgomery Bell Academy, a prestigious prep school in Nashville.
The rumor quickly took off, as it wasn’t too far-fetched. Brady is set to enter free agency this March, and there is no guarantee he will remain with the Patriots, with whom he has won six Super Bowls in 20 seasons. Brady also played alongside current Titans coach Mike Vrabel, and the two are friends.
According to Nashville attorney Blair Dunham, whose son attends the school, the rumor began when another student was told he couldn’t meet with the admissions director because the director was meeting with a “Hall of Famer” (the 42-year-old Brady is a future Hall of Famer).
A tall blonde woman was then seen touring the school, and the students immediately assumed it was Bundchen, who has blonde hair and is 5-foot-11, Dunham said on the “The George Plaster Show”.
The woman instead was Landyn Hutchinson, the wife of former Titans offensive lineman Steve Hutchinson, who was elected to the Hall of Fame last week.
The bogus sighting aside, it’s unlikely Brady would end up with the Titans, who stunningly knocked him out of the playoffs in the wild-card round. ESPN reported Tennessee is expected to hold onto current quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
The Raiders, who are set to embark on their first season in Las Vegas, have been speculated as the most-likely suitor for Brady should he leave New England. The Patriots reportedly are trying to keep Brady from leaving as a free agent.
