Former “Silicon Valley” star Kumail Nanjiani is proof that hard work pays off.
The actor, who was tapped to star as Kingo in Marvel‘s “Eternals” film, has spent much of 2019 getting in shape and on Monday, he showed off the results.
In an Instagram post, Nanjiani thanked the professionals who helped him become “strong, limber and injury-free,” and gave props to his wife, writer Emily V. Gordon, who supported him throughout the process.
“I never thought I’d be one of those people who would post a thirsty shirtless, but I’ve worked way too hard for way too long, so here we are,” he wrote. “I would not have been able to do this if I didn’t have a full year with the best trainers and nutritionists paid for by the biggest studio in the world. I’m glad I look like this, but I also understand why I never did before. It would have been impossible without these resources and time.”
In addition to working out nonstop, Nanjiani, 41, has had a busy 2019. Although his time on “Silicon Valley” came to an end — the HBO series ended its six-season run on HBO on Dec. 8 — he appeared in an episode of CBS All Access’ “The Twilight Zone” and lent his voice to the Fox animated series “Bless the Harts,” the film “Men in Black: International,” and the upcoming movie, “Dolittle.” He also starred in the summer blockbuster “Stuber,” shot the 2020 movie “The Lovebirds,” and began production on “Eternals.”
“Eternals,” which also stars Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek and Kit Harington, is slated to be released on Nov. 6, 2020.
