North Korea Launches Two Rockets on Thanksgiving Day

North Korea launched two rockets on Thursday as the deadline for restarting nuclear talks with the U.S. approaches.

According to South Korea’s military, the rockets were launched into the sea in the afternoon.

After nuclear negotiations with the U.S. stalled earlier this year, Kim Jong-un set a year-end deadline for restarting the talks.

Reuters reported that “analysts believe Pyongyang is trying to send a Thanksgiving reminder to the United States by demonstrating progress in weapons development on the anniversary of the 2017 ICBM test.”

U.S. Special Representative for North Korea Stephen Biegun recently said the U.S. “will be at this as long as it takes” regardless of Kim’s “artificial” deadline.
