Yes, YouTube. It’s not just for keyboard cats. You can get ANY youtube channel as your own personal podcast feed.
There are two ways to do this.
YouTube podcasts method #1: The first way makes use of the YouTube API, but only updates with links back to youtube where you can watch the video. There is a better way, but if you want to do it like this, here’s how:
In that link above replace “NAMEOFCHANNEL” with the name of the youtube channel (username) you want to subscribe to. That’s the rss feed for the youtube channel.
YouTube podcasts method #2: But you’re a power user (well, you are now). You want a direct link to the video itself. So use RSS Handler. Enter the URL to a youtube channel, it gives you a feed with direct links to video files.
Oh wait, I’ve already done that for you:
Associated Press (you should use Reuters instead)
Now, I have a confession. This was actually all a ploy in order to get you to recommend video podcasts to me!!! You didn’t see that one coming, huh? I was going to make this an open thread comment, but I expanded it into a post.
So if you found this helpful, pay up in the comments! Bonus points for alternative news like Democracy Now, or particularly good YouTube channels.
